Roberto Soldado on his real madrid day's

"When I step onto the pitch at the Bernabéu I'll remember all the hard work it took to get here"

Roberto Soldado Rillo, was born in Valencia. He spent 10 years at local club Don Bosco before moving on to Real Madrid at the age of 15 in the year 2000. He played 120 games for Real Madrid B (Castilla) scoring 63 goals in the process.

On 28 September 2005, Soldado scored a 86th minute winner against Olympiakos after being on the pitch for just 6 minutes in the UCL. He made his Laliga debut on 23 October 2005 against Valencia playing 18 mins in a 2-1 home loss. He added a late equaliser against Osasuna and another one in a 3-2 victory over Racing de Santander as Real finished second in the league. He also scored a goal in the 4-0 success over Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey. In the same season, Soldado scored 19 goals for Castilla to become the second highest goalscorer.

Next season he was loaned out to Osasuna (they had finished fourth in the league the previous season) and he said "The idea is to leave and have a good season with a first division team scoring goals, and to develop as a footballer". He finished that season with 15 goals in the league, Osasuna's outright top scorer. The following season he moved to Real Madrid and wore number 9. But sadly, he made just 5 league appearances as Real Madrid won the league. He was sold to Getafe for €4m.

He scored his first goal for Getafe on 19 October 2008 in a 1-2 loss against Malaga. He was sent off against Valencia in the same campaign for headbutting Carlos Marchena. He scored against Real Madrid albeit in a losing cause. He helped Getafe to just avoid relegation as they finished 17th. The next season he was in fine form as he netted 16 league goals and Getafe qualified for the Europa League. He was grabbed by Valencia for €10m and he returned to his hometown the following season.

In his first official game for Valencia he scored one goal in the UCL game against Bursapor (4-0). On 2 April he scored all 4 goals in a 4-2 victory over former club Getafe. He finished the season as joint third highest goalscorer as Valencia finished third. In the next season he scored both the goals in a 2-3 loss against Real Madrid. He scored 27 goals in that season and the Spurs came to sign him.
He was sold to Tottenham for a club record £26m.

On hi EPL debut he scored Tottenham's winning goal via a penalty against Crystal Palace. But he had a sub standard season as he netted just 6 times and only 2 times from open play. He was included in The Telegraph's list of '10 worst buys of the Premier League season'. He scored just 5 times in the following season as he was sold to Villareal for £10m.

He scored in his very first appearance in a 1-1 draw against Real Betis. On 13 Dec Soldado scored the only goal of the game to defeat Real Madrid. He missed a lot of games this season due to injury. He was also penalised while on the bench as he was very vocal in Real Madrid's comeback 3-2 victory over Villareal this season.

He represented Spain at all youth levels netting 26 goals. He debuted for the senior side on 2 Jun 2007 against Latvia. He has scored 7 goals in 12 international appearances for the senior side.
