Next season he was loaned out to Osasuna (they had finished fourth in the league the previous season) and he said "The idea is to leave and have a good season with a first division team scoring goals, and to develop as a footballer". He finished that season with 15 goals in the league, Osasuna's outright top scorer. The following season he moved to Real Madrid and wore number 9. But sadly, he made just 5 league appearances as Real Madrid won the league. He was sold to Getafe for €4m.
He scored his first goal for Getafe on 19 October 2008 in a 1-2 loss against Malaga. He was sent off against Valencia in the same campaign for headbutting Carlos Marchena. The next season he was in fine form as he netted 16 league goals and Getafe qualified for the Europa League. He was grabbed by Valencia for €10m and he returned to his hometown the following season.
