Chapter - 6
Daniel Ceballos Fernández
Age :- 20
Playing position :- Central Midfielder
'Way to Real Madrid' -
Ceballos joined Sevilla FC youth academy in 2004 aged 8. In 2009 Sevilla released him due to chronic bronchitis problem. He subsequently played for hometown's CD Utrera, and completed his development in Real Betis after signing in 2011. On 26 April 2014, without even appearing for the B-team, Ceballos played his first official game with the Andalusians' main squad, coming on as a late substitute in a 0–1 La Liga home loss against Real Sociedad.
After impressing with Real Betis in 2016/17 season and amazing performances for Spanish National Team at Euro U-21 tournament, Real Madrid made no delay in signing him from Betis in €16 Millions deal.
(#Cos did a post on his weaknesses and strengths earlier this month and I will repeat the same here.)
'Strengths as a player' -
He has the ability to control the tempo of the game with his incessant running on and off the ball. He loves to dribble past opponents with his pace and skill on the ball, justified by beating his man 65% of the times in last season's Liga. He creates chances for his team while attacking and while not that good while defending he has made some vital interceptions.
'Weaknesses as a player' -
Ceballos is a poor finisher. Would compare him to Vazquez on that. Needs to improve a bit though it's not his main job. Dani also has a poor record at tackles. He has won just 34% of his duels and is dispossessed easily. He needs to work on these things to develop as a great overall player.
'Can he be a great player in future ? Who he can replace in coming years ?' -
I don't think there are any doubts about it. Lad is surely going to be a big player in future. If he continue his hard work then he will surely be one of the best players of his generation.
I don't think he will replace anyone but create a name for himself. He is being marked as the next Andres Iniesta. We all know what it takes to be Andres Iniesta. Ceballos has good midfield attributes but lacks attacking attributes. If he improves his attacking abilities then maybe he can be the 1st Andres Iniesta of Real Madrid and 2nd of Spanish National Team. He can surely develop as being only 20 years old and has midfield maestros like Zidane, Modric and Kroos and attack masters like Cristiano, Raul, Benzema and Bale to help him at Real Madrid. I hope he goes on to become a great player in future for Real Madrid.
